Verona Fire Department

The Verona Fire Department is an all volunteer fire department. This status saves Verona Taxpayers millions of dollars a year, while still maintaining the professionalism, quality service, and level of training found in any other fire department, career or volunteer. There are a total of positions for almost 60 members who are overseen by 6 elected officers, operating 2 stations; one on each end of town. Dispatched by the Verona Police Department, the Verona Fire Department answers about 330 calls for service during the year.

The Verona Fire Department is always seeking new members. Joining the department opens the door to new experiences. Members enjoy a close fraternal tie with unlimited networking as well as a new experience of learning, rarely found in other types of organizations.

All new members will receive training by the Verona Fire Department and can go to any state authorized Fire academy at no cost to the member. All Verona firefighters must obtain their Firefighter 1 certification, which is the basic training required to be a firefighter in the State of New Jersey.

To qualify for membership you must be between 18 and 45 years of age and in good physical health. You also must have been a Verona resident for a minimum of 6 months prior to applying for membership. Students between 16 and 18 may apply for auxiliary membership.
