  Verona Rescue Squad

The mission of the Verona Rescue Squad is to maintain an ambulance service free of charge to the residents, businesses and visitors of the Township of Verona and to cooperate with the police department, fire department, other town agencies and neighboring squads.

The Verona Rescue Squad is a non-profit organization that survives mainly on donations collected during the annual fund drive. The Rescue Squad provides Emergency Medical Service (EMS) to the Township of Verona all day and all night, every day of the year. They operate 3 ambulances and 1 command vehicle, which is used to manage multi casualty incidents.

The Verona Rescue Squad responds to over 1400 calls for service during the year. There are scheduled crews assigned to every night of the week. The day hours are covered by anyone who is available during the day, including designated day crew members. All scheduled evening shifts are from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am. When fully staffed, the Rescue Squad has over 100 positions of EMS providers who are overseen by elected officers of the organization. There are currently many positions available.

There are several levels of membership available. Verona students between the ages of 16 and 18 can join as a youth member. Verona adults aged 18 and beyond can join as a full member or an associate member. Full members volunteer their time at least 12 hours per week and associate members at least 6 hours per week. All prospective members must be in good health and need to pass a physical that is performed by a local doctor.

No experience is necessary to join the Rescue Squad, just a desire to help others. All training and uniforms are provided free of charge. Members are trained as Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) and in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). These are skills which could also prove valuable in your everyday life.

Those interested in membership should send an e-mail stating such to the e-mail address below, write a letter to the membership committe at the address below, call the answering machine and leave a message or visit the squad’s website where you can download a membership application.
